Renegade 20 Core Manual
Version Alpha 0.30
Your race defines many traits about your character, including your size, movement, appearance, as well as the availability of certain Aspects, Powers, and default Skills. In addition, you can continue to advance by taking racial levels and gain access to additional race specific Powers and Aspects over time!
Each race gains the default language specified as their bonus language (see Languages under the Skills chapter for details). In addition, each race offers different Powers, Aspects, and Skill selections.

Your Racial starting hit points, Character Level, and your Endurance Skill determine your hit points. As you advance in levels, you gain a hit point for every level you achieve. Likewise, each time you advance your Endurance Skill, you gain 3 hit points. Additionally, your race grants you a certain number of hit points based on size and portfolio of the race. The formula is as follows:
Your racial hit points are determined during character creation. If for some reason your race changes, you need to remove the hit points contributed by your race and redetermine them with the new race.
Note: Hit points are calculated based on character size: 0 tiny, 5 small, 10 medium, 20 large, 40 huge, 80 gargantuan, 160 colossal.
When you start off with a race, you start off as a level 0 in that race. In time you can advance your race in levels, opening up new and more power aspects and powers of your race. Racial levels, just like Class levels, add to your Character Level. Initially, with a racial level of zero, there is no effect. However, if you advance your race to level 1, you now increase your Character Level by 1 as well. This is abbreviated as a Human 2 for a level 2 human, or Woodland Elf 3 for a level 3 Woodland Elf.
There are other races such as giants that are more powerful than you initially and have a much higher CLM and level, and others such as kobolds that are weaker than you and actually have a negative CLM and level. When you pick any of these base races, you are picking a race with a level of 0 and a CLM of 0.
