Renegade 20 Core Manual
Version Alpha 0.30
Possibly the most potent of all the spheres, at first you can bring figments of illusory matter into existence, and bind the weaving of the energies necessary to cast almost any spell. At higher levels you can create permanent objects and even create and stabilize demi-planes.
You may specify a target other than yourself. Targets must all be within the specified range as well, which is specified with the Spell Distance component. Otherwise you may effect a single unwilling target that you must touch with a Stealth attack vs. opponents Agility Defense. You must still succeed in a spell craft attack roll to effect the target with the spell.
If you specified a Spell Distance, you must be able to count the spaces to the first target, and continue to count the spaces to each other target as a single continuous segmented line (think connect the dots).
You select 1 target for each level of this component.
This must be combined with component Spell Distance of the Sphere of Space with equal level. The cone is as wide as it is long. For example, if the cone is 13 squares long, it is also 13 squares wide.
You cannot combine this with other Illusion or Space Sphere components for space, size, or distance.
If the spell is a perception spell only, such as a Detect Magic, Detect Invisibility, etc. use the perception column below to determine the size, otherwise use the Standard column.
| Level | Standard | Perception |
|---|---|---|
| Level 1 | 3 squares | 9 squares |
| Level 2 | 5 squares | 15 squares |
| Level 3 | 7 squares | 21 squares |
| Level 4 | 9 squares | 27 squares |
| Level 5 | 11 squares | 33 squares |
| Level 6 | 13 squares | visual distance |
| Level 7 | 15 squares | |
| Level 8 | 17 squares | |
| Level 9 | 19 squares |
You target an area of squares, 1 or higher. Continuing spells cast on an Area of Effect are controlled and resolved in the beginning of the casters round.
| Level 1 | 1 x 1 Square |
| Level 2 | 3 x 3 Squares |
| Level 3 | 5 x 5 Squares |
| Level 4 | 7 x 7 Squares |
| Level 5 | 9 x 9 Squares |
| Level 6 | 11 x 11 Squares |
| Level 7 | 13 x 13 Squares |
| Level 8 | 15 x 15 Squares |
| Level 9 | 17 x 17 Squares |
| Level 10 | 21 x 21 Squares |
| Level 11 | 25 x 25 Squares |
You can manifest the spell as a thin sheet (perhaps and inch) with a length that varies depending on the power.
The wall extends equidistant from the center of the spell. If the wall is a container, you can choose to shape the wall starting from your square, or to be the center of the shaped container.
| Level | Standard | Perception |
|---|---|
| Level 1 | 3 squares |
| Level 2 | 5 squares |
| Level 3 | 7 squares |
| Level 4 | 9 squares |
| Level 5 | 13 squares |
| Level 6 | 19 squares |
| Level 7 | 23 squares |
| Level 8 | 27 squares |
| Level 9 | 31 squares |
If you wish to bend or turn the wall, add 2 to the spell level for a single bend or turn, and 4 if you wish to have any number of turns (including circles).
If you wish to have the wall branch out (such as in the shape of the letter âTâ, or any other branch effect, add an additional +1 to the spell level.
You can create illusory figments.
You must have Sphere Level Knowledge of Earth, Air, Fire, and Water at the same level as the level of this component.
If you include this component without the x3 spell level modifier (ie: standard modifier), the illusion appears as a translucent figment only. Otherwise the illusion appears real to all the senses.
If you reduce the effective level for the effect, the Continuing Focus becomes:
| Level 1 | Continuing Focus - Hour |
| Level 2 | Continuing Focus - Day |
| Level 3 | Continuing Focus - Year |
| Level 4 | Continuing Focus - Decade |
| Level 1 | Small apparition (1 square) |
| Level 2 | Large apparition (2x2x2 squares) |
| Level 3 | Giant apparition (3x3x3 squares) |
| Level 4 | Colossal apparition (4x4x4 squares) |
| Level 5 | medium home (9x9x9 squares) |
| Level 6 | small scene (21 x 21 x 21 squares) |
| Level 7 | Large scene (51 x 51 x 51 squares) |
| Level 8 | Village |
| Level 9 | Town |
This modifies a spell to radiate the effect with the target becoming a focus, and the entire spell area is infused with a radiant effect. The target itself is still effected unless the additional secondary component of Component Protection from the Sphere of Earth is included as well.
Any creature in contact with the object or area automatically suffers the secondary effect if the primary damage from the spell does not effect the target. For example, a sword will radiate against all who it successfully strikes. If the attack roll from the spell effect misses, the secondary effect (if any) automatically effects the target. A person will radiate the damage against all who successfully contact them. A wall of thorns will attack all who attempt to cross or touch it.
In addition to this component, you should be advised that you need to add Earth as a primary as well to protect the wielder of the sword, or the person the radiant damage is surrounding. If you do, this component becomes Boon magic for any Continuing effect.
You need to add the Radiant component at the same level as the sphere level of the secondary component that defines an area you wish to modify. If none, you should include it at the level of the prime component.
All Radiant spells must continue using the Continuing component of the Sphere of Time.
