Renegade 20 Core Manual

Version Alpha 0.30

Sphere of Air

This sphere is associated with the physical, tangible world, the body, protection, solid barriers, and matter. With it you can soften, harden, transmute, and create matter. Additionally, you may be able to cast spells without needing a material component.

Damage Reduction

  • Prime Component
  • Line of Effect or Familiarity
  • Continuing Focus - Minute

You can increase the damage reduction (DR) of an individual. If the total DR of a target is less then this bonus, this bonus is doubled.

Level 4+3 DR

Elemental Acid

  • Secondary Component

You can receive a response where you are already sending a message.

Level 3This makes any damage done by the Prime Component count as Elemental Acid, possibly doing additional damage to creatures who have a sensitivity to acid. If you have a source of acid, you may use that as a material component and not need to increase the Spell Level. At the Game Masters discretion, exceptional sources of acid may actually increase the damage of the spell. Any acid component is consumed in the casting, up to 1 cubic foot per Sphere Level.

Soften/Harden Earth

  • Prime Component
  • Line of Effect
  • Continuing Focus - 1 round

You can turn rock and stone to mud, and transmute mud to solid stone. The size of material affected is bound to the Illusion sphere for size.

Slippery Matter

  • Prime Component
  • Line of Effect
  • Agility Defense
  • Continuing Focus - 1 round

You make a target area slippery. Each target you successfully strike falls prone and is distracted for the round. In order for them to stand up again they must succeed in a Stealth Skill Check DC 10 + the sphere level of this component. If this spell is continuing, you make another attack against every target when they first enter the affected area, and of course against any standing target in the continuing phase of your turn.

No Material Catalyst

  • Secondary Component
Level 2You are able to cast a spell that doesn’t specify a specific material component, such as an Encounter or Venture Spell, without a material component. This is useful if you do not have your spell component pouch handy, or do not wish to be seen to access it.

Wall of Earth

  • Prime Component
  • Requires Component
  • Line of Effect

You create a solid barrier composed of the elements available at the site and defined in shape by the secondary component Create Wall in the Sphere of Illusion. Any part of the barrier when removed dissolve into energy. The properties of the wall are defined by the level of this component.

Component Protection Secondary Component You may add this component to a spell to protect the target or focus of the spell from the effect of the spell. If the spell covers an area of effect, the result is to create an eye in the center of the effect where the effect is negated. With radiant damage, this protects the focus of the spell from any effect. You must add this component at the same level as the prime spell component. If the spell is a destruction spell at level 3, this component must be added in at level 3 as well. If the the focus of the spell resolves continuing effects, the spell becomes boon magic for resolving continuing effects.
