Renegade 20 is an open source roleplay game ruleset, allowing the community to build and develop what we hope will be a very competitive alternative to the commercial games available today. Anyone can contribute and expand the system. Perhaps one day, there will be modern rules available, but for now, we are focusing on the fantasy setting.

Why an Open Source Roleplay system?

Many of the current roleplay games are trending towards a system based completely on economics. Each release trends towards trying to expand and incorporate markets that have little interest in roleplay games. As a result, most of the rules have become so generic as to become inflexible and without the flavor that most games used to possess.

What is the campaign setting I see on the top left?

After the core release of the rules is complete, we are going to do the same thing with the campaign setting on the top left. The campaign site will have a character generator, Game Master tools, and a forum for every campaign people start on here. Yes, you can contribute your character journals, dialog, and step "out of character" on the forums. We are looking to test this, so if you are interested drop us a line! You will also be able to contribute story lines, adventures, and contribute towards developing the whole campaign setting with the same tools we are providing on the rules site. Both sites are linked, but either can be used without the other.

What is new?

We have completed the initial release of the Sandbox, or open source center where you can vote, edit, and contribute to the rules. We are completing the online dynamic rule set and will soon be fully operational. However, you can review the rules and contribute your own ideas now!
