Staff of Mandor, Staff of the Moon Elemental Mind +2

The staff was created by the Arch-Wizard Mandor when he took his station within the Circle of the Moon and before he joined the dark circle called The Covenant. As Mandor was master of the Covenant of the Mind, he could easily read the thoughts of others and dominate their bodies for extended durations.

The staff is made out of an exquisite specimen of Elven Oak and capped with a large saphire the size of a standard fist. In each of the 7 exposed facets of the gem is an inlaid ruin of Red Gold which is the arcane script of the primal element and also the denominations of the various known covenants (Mind, Illusion, Air, Earth, Fire, Water, and Planes). The central facet atop the gem is inlaid specifically with the Mind glyph, and arcane words of are engraved in gold and silver down the side of the staff enumerating the might and power of Mandor.

The user wielding the Staff of Mandor has the benefit of having their will and perception fortified by the power of the lost covenant, granting them a +2 resistance bonus to any will saves. You also have a stronger command over other souls, granting any mind-effecting or spell that has a death effect the automatic benefit of being affected by the Heighten feat (2 levels).

Additionally, the gem in the center of the staff serves as an arcane focus for a special version of the Magic Jar spell. If the caster is capable of casting 6th level mental or arcane spells, they can spend a day bonding themselves to the staff in a special ritual. After this day, you are permanently affected as per the Magic Jar spell, with the gem on the staff being your focus.

Finally, the staff allows the wielder to use their full mental acuity when fighting defensively. The wielder may choose one opponent in each round in his turn and receive a dodge bonus to his armor class against that single opponent equivalent to his will save (including any bonus granted by the staff.) The staff simply assists the mage in being so quick that their will dominates their own natural reflexes.
